Planning a store opening across events and PR
A store opening is both a brand announcement and a physical visitor experience. Marketing teams need to answer two sets of questions: what is worth reporting, and what will people encounter when they arrive? A shared plan connects those decisions.

Find the specific reason to pay attention
An opening announces a fact, but audiences may need more context. What does the location offer? Which products or experiences can visitors encounter? How does the opening activity relate to the brand?
arena’s opening used swim-ring-shaped doughnuts for a limited giveaway, expressing a swimwear connection through a recognisable object. L Concept coordinated the giveaway and wrote and distributed the press release.
Make press information useful to the reader
A release needs a clear hierarchy: what is opening, where, when and what makes it relevant. Limited activities also need consistent dates, times, participation instructions and conditions.
Prepare photographs with a purpose. A storefront view helps identify the location; a product or activity detail supports a story angle; captions explain what is shown. Decide what each image needs to communicate before the shoot.
Include arrival arrangements in the brand experience
Entrances, queues, distribution points and store operations affect each other. Consider where a queue starts, how visitors understand the activity and where they go after participating.
Media visits and filming may also need space for reception, interviews and photography. Discussing those needs alongside visitor movement helps identify conflicts in time and space.
Use a shared timeline for PR and event work
Information approval, photography, media liaison, production and staff briefings have dependencies. A shared timeline identifies who supplies each item, when it is confirmed and how changes are communicated.
For the Royal Caribbean Taipei roadshow, L Concept and its Taipei sister company coordinated speakers, the stage, venue and media arrangements. Although a roadshow differs from a store opening, both require communications to work with practical event conditions.
Distinguish attendance from communications outcomes
Visits, giveaways and media reports describe different activities. Review the deliverables, whether coverage communicated the core news accurately, and whether the on-site journey supported participation.
If sales or subsequent enquiries matter to the evaluation, discuss the available records and measurement method in advance. Clear definitions make the next budget conversation more concrete.
Before opening day, align
- The store news and brand detail
- Dates, conditions and participation instructions
- Press materials, photographs and approval contacts
- Visitor, store-operation and media needs
- Delivery records and the review method
Opening PR and an on-site activation can begin with the same brand message, then develop content suited to each setting. Early alignment helps visitors and media receive consistent information.
